The ability to identify hazards and appropriate controls is a fundamental skill that every person involved in drilling operations must possess, particularly supervisors and safety staff.
In this course, you will learn about six major sources of hazards that are found on all drill sites. Frequently, risk assessments on these hazards are incomplete because hazards are not identified and so controls are not identified and implemented.
This course is presented in 6 modules, each module contains a written report dealing with a specific component or process, and to gain maximum benefit from this course, you should read through the reports several times and extract from them the key points that apply to your particular drilling method or technique.
The modules cover 6 common drill site hazards:
Module 1: Hazards associated with steel wire ropes
Module 2: Hazards associated with air hoses
Module 3: Hazards associated with moving and hot components
Module 4: Hazards associated with wireline retrieval operations and equipment
Module 5: Hazards associated with a rotating drillstring
Module 6: Depth capacity of drilling machines
