Resource companies use drilling contractors to conduct their drilling programs because contractors have equipment and expertise that the resource company does not have. Typically, the relationship between the resource company and the contractor is based on a contract, and so, management of a drilling project requires that you have a good understanding of how the contract is structured and how the contract structure can affect the objectives of the exploration program. In this course you will learn about the role of drilling in the mining industry and how a typical tender is designed. You will then learn about the structure of different types of drilling contract and how this understanding will allow you to better manage aspects of the contract.
This course consists of:
Module 1: The role of drilling in mining
Module 2: Contractual aspects of exploration drilling
